Values were way up as steers topped at $1345, PTIC heifers at $2180, unjoined heifer weaners at $1080 and cows with calves at $2375 during the 20th annual Mudgee Angus Breeders Association sale of 1400 head at Mudgee saleyards today.
Top of the large steer portion was among a consignment of 210 steers and heifers from Peel Pastoral, North Richmond, selling at $1345.
These were eight to nine month-olds of Talooby blood – sired by a Talooby Charolais/Angus bull and from Talooby blood Angus matrons.
Jamie and Sarah Inglis, “Havilah East”, Mudgee, again exhibited champion pen of heifers, being 16 of Coffin Creek blood and PTIC to Coffin Creek bulls, selling at $2180 a head to a new entrant in beef cattle breeding in the Mudgee district.
To cows with calves were 13 cows from Wallings Pastoral, Cassilis, with Shorthorn sired calves at foot four to eight weeks old selling at $2375 a unit.
