The ultimate completion to the Australian Wagyu Associations annual conference held in Albury was the highly anticipated Elite Wagyu Sale which attracted bidders from around the world.
Expectations were met and far exceeded with three Australia Wagyu records being set.
The Australia record top price bull is now held by Mayura Station, Millicent, SA after selling Mayura L0010 to Hewitt Pastoral Enterprises, Charters Towers, Qld, for $105000 via AuctionsPlus.
Sired by Mayura Itoshigenami Jnr who is breed renowned L0010 had a Fullbood Terminal Index (FTI) of +$395
Demand for breed leading FTI cattle continued.
A heifer in utero offered by Laird and Sonia Morgan, Arubial, Condamine, Qld, who will be the higest mid parent FTI female in the world at +$567 was knocked down for an Australian Wagyu record price of $95000 to Wag-You.com operating through Landmark Dubbo, for South Africian based Hendrik Markam, Miku Wagyu.
Again operating through Wag-You.com and Landmark Dubbo who are his Australian representatives Mr Markam also purchased 10 units of semen from the second highest ranked FTI sire Macquarie Wagyu Y408 who has an index of +$595 for an Australian record price of $28000 per unit.
Across the categories six of the eight females offered sold to a top of $24000 for Macquarie Wagyu K1197 to Chiconi Grazing Company, Mungallala, Qld, and averaged $14000.
One heifer in utero sold for $95000.
Five of the six embryo packages sold to a top of $3500 per embryo and an average price of $2600 per embryo.
Bulls topped at $105000 as 10 of the 12 offered averaged $20700.
While all 17 semen packages sold to a top of $28000 per unit and an average price of $1962 per unit.
