A third workshop focusing on the importance of biosecurity and managing sheep disease will be held in Homebush next month, with landholders and interested stakeholders encouraged to attend.
The workshop, which will be held in Homebush near Balranald on 20 June, was organised by Western Local Land Services in partnership with Sheep Connect NSW and will see a number of respected presenters cover several important topics to landholders.
Some of the topics that will be covered are:
· biosecurity on your property
· development of an on-farm biosecurity plan for your property
· seasonal sheep health issues
· disease investigations – who to notify
· a precautionary approach to purchasing livestock
· a National Livestock Identification System update.
On the back of two recent workshops on biosecurity and sheep disease, Western Local Land Services Team Leader – Agriculture, Gemma Turnbull is confident the third will also be a success.
“Landholders face many challenges on a daily basis and when it comes to matters of biosecurity and sheep disease it helps to be on the front foot and be as informed and prepared as possible,” Ms Turnbull said.
“This workshop is designed to help identify potential flock health risks which can impact not only a landholders' business but in some cases the broader sheep industry.
“This workshop will be held in a very relaxed atmosphere which allows producers to ask questions and discuss their flock health concerns. Past attendees have found this very valuable.”
- The workshop is on Tuesday, 20 June and will commence at 9.30 am at the Homebush Hotel, Homebush.
