A sellers’ box at the Kempsey saleyards has been completely destroyed in what appears to be a “pretty ordinary” act of arson.
The box, which sellers work from during stock sales, was razed over Sunday night, June 18.
Initial estimates had the box at 35-40 years old, with a replacement slated to cost about $20,000.
On Tuesday, the burned remnants were cleared and a new concrete slab was laid for the construction of a new box.
Council’s Dan Lomas it was a “pretty ordinary act”.
Mr Lomas said there was “bugger all left” of the box following the fire.
Sales are due to be held at the yards on Thursday and Friday.
