LOOKING for a slice of land in the country that is famed for its beef production?
“Rangers Valley” at Nundle could be your answer.
The 4509 acre (1825ha) property, 56 kilometres from Tamworth, comprises 1825 hectares of undulating, sheltered grazing country made up of heavy basalt soil.
David Reid, along with his wife Leeanne and daughters Caitlin and Amy, have owned the place for nine years. There they run a breeding operation consisting of 800 cows and 400 yearlings.
“It’s perfect country to run a cow and calf breeding enterprise. We run Hereford cows and mostly sell our weaners to Gunnedah,” Mr Reid said.
“Us selling is a great opportunity for a cattle producer to buy into Nundle. I would say places of this scale rarely come onto the market here.
“We’re in high rainfall country (about 900 millimetres a year) and we have a bit of elevation so it’s not quite so cold.”
Mr Reid is asking $9.95 million for the property and has enlisted the team from Chris Ward Property Sales to market it.
“Rangers Valley” has three homes, the largest of which was built in 1903.
The focus of the Reid’s improvements has been on water facilities.
“We’ve put in 14 new dams and laid seven kilometers of piping to service two bores. We also added 10 troughs.”
I would say places of this scale rarely come onto the market here.

Thanks to their improvements the property now has 42 dams. The property also has a long frontage to Goonoo Goonoo Creek. They recently erected a set of state of the art Clipex cattle yards which can hold 500 head.
The Reids are selling “Rangers Valley” to expand their business elsewhere.
