COMBINING bulls and females of two breeds in a national show and sale promotion has paid dividends for both the Red Angus and Simmental societies and members.
Stud and commercial breeders vied for the offering yesterday at Dubbo showground resulting in more than 80 per cent auction clearance of bulls and females of both breeds,
Bulls sold to a top of $21,000 for the Goondoola Red Angus junior and grand champion bull, Goondoola Latitude L28 shown by the Powe and Skipper families, Goondoola stud, Cargo; and $12,000 twice for two Simmental bulls from Woonallee stud, of the Baker family, Millicent, South Australia.
The Red Angus catalogue resulted in 25 of 28 bulls averaging $8120 and 12 of 16 females topping at $7500 and averaging $5400.
Simmental bulls averaged $8455 for 11 of 14 head and eight of 10 females topped at $11,500 and averaged $7563.
Ross Anderson, “Wattylbee”, Arding near Armidale, bought the Red Angus bull and female sale toppers plus two more heifers while Alexander Downs, Merriwa, bought the two top-priced Simmental bulls.
Jessica and Luke Adams, Loaderry Simmentals, Londonderry, bought the top-pried Simmental female Savannah Zoe M01 (P) from Vaughan and Sarah Campagnolo, Savannah stud, Myponga, SA.
