The 61st annual New England Angus Breeders sale is predicted to attract some keen interest on at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange on Wednesday July 26.
In total, 52 bulls and 21 females and one embryo package will be offered by 10 vendors from the New England area and further afield in NSW.
Selling agent Chris Patterson said it was excellent to see a few new vendors at this year’s sale, even though vendor numbers were slightly down.
“Lachie Ware, Wongalea stud, Tamworth, is one new vendor, offering two bulls and John Smith, Pondora Angus, Bendemeer, who has returned after a notable absence, is offering four bulls,” Mr Patterson said.
“Jake Walkom, Jarowa Angus, Blayney, is another new vendor who will offer four bulls for the first time and Brian Abbott of Abbott Angus, Armidale, will put eight females into the ring. Mr Abbot hasn’t been involved in the sale for a number of years.”
Mr Patterson said two of the larger return vendors are Yamba stud, Narrandera, who are offering13 bulls and XL Beef, Dungowan, will offer 11 bulls and three females.
“The return of vendors and introduction of new ones is a reflection of the strong market,” Mr Patterson said.
“The sale has been strong the last couple of years, and it presents itself as an excellent selling opportunity for the smaller studs in the area.
“In saying that, there are a few studs not involved this year as they are holding their own on-property sales.”
Mr Patterson said the numbers have altered slightly due to the shift in focus of some of the studs, so numbers are up in female offerings, from 10 to 21, but bull numbers have dropped.
“The draft of bulls are impressive and the Angus sales have continued to be strong, so we are expecting a good result,” Mr Patterson said.
“This is an excellent value for money sale, presenting a fantastic opportunity for commercial breeders to access some top genetics at affordable prices.”
Last year, a top-price of $13,500 and average of $6669 was recorded.
Seventy-six bulls were offered, with 62 selling for a clearance of 81 per cent.
Heart Lorenzo L8 topped the sale, selling to Jack Callinan, “Poitrel”, Ellerston.
