ANGUS Australia has recently launched a new selection tool for Angus cattle buyers on its website called Angus SaleSELECT.
The tool allows cattle producers interested in Angus genetics to search and sort registered Angus animals that are for sale; identifying those that are suited to their breeding objectives.
Angus Australia breed development and extension manager Andrew Byrne, Armidale, said early indicators suggested significant interest and use of the tool since it was released at the beginning of July.
“The rate of genetic improvement within Angus breeding programs could be maximised through the use of the program,” Mr Byrne said.
“This improvement will increase the profitability and quality of Angus genetics across the supply chain.”
Launched as part of the Angus Select range, this selection tool arrived just in time for the spring Angus bull sales that kicked off across the country.
“Buyers now have the ability to efficiently filter sale catalogues according to selection criteria such as estimated breeding values (EBVs) or location, ” he said.
The program offers an interactive map, EBV slider tools and a print-friendly option for EBV guides and individual animal profiles.
Angus Australia has created a training module, that can be found within the Angus Education Centre, that provides detailed instructions to use the program.
The New England Angus Breeders bull sale is listed on Angus SaleSELECT.
