IRON-ORE executive Jimmy Wilson has been named the new chief executive officer of West Australian grain co-operative CBH Group.
Mr Wilson formerly headed up BHP’s iron ore division, and prior to that he led BHP’s energy coal, stainless steel and nickel divisions in Australia. He also manned BHP’s chrome and aluminium operations in South Africa.
His experienced matched CBH’s need for a leader with strengths in developing, operating and innovating international supply chains.
“With the co-operative’s current major focus on delivering our $750 million Network Strategy, Jimmy’s proven strengths in extracting efficiencies from integrated operations, driving excellence in capital management, and using innovation and technology to escalate changes in productivity, make him a natural fit for the organisation,” said CBH group chairman Wally Newman.
Over the next two weeks, Mr Wilson will travel to grain growing regions across Western Australia to attend grower meetings where he will have the opportunity to meet and hear from CBH members.
Mr Wilson will replace Andrew Crane after eight years in the top job.
CBH Group is Australia’s largest exporter of grain. It is owned and controlled by about 4200 Western Australian grain growers.
Mr Wilson is the latest minerals executive to be recruited to a major Australian agribusiness. American-born chemical engineer Jeanne Johns was this week named as the CEO of fertiliser business Incitec Pivot.
