NSW Young Farmers came together for a social event in Wagga Wagga on August 10.
Hosted by the NSW Young Farmers Wagga branch, the ‘Chill and Grill’ event aimed to allow students and young farmers to come together, have a chat about what is currently happening within the agricultural industry and learn about the association.
Speakers included NSW Young Farmers chair Tim Carroll, Cudal; South West regional services manager Simone Norrie, Griffith, and NSW Young Farmers Wagga branch chair Tobie Payne, Wagga Wagga.
They spoke on the who, what, how, and why behind the association. Individuals were introduced to the new changes and encouraged to join their local branches to have their say in important matters and help support the industry.
The branch also ran the barbeque at the Charles Sturt University Approaching Ag careers fair held at the Wagga Wagga campus that had over 400 students through the doors.
The day was aimed at presenting students with current opportunities the agricultural industry offers. It hosted over 50 businesses from a range of sectors including grains, beef, sheep, fibre production, research and development, agribusiness, resourcing and farm equipment.
The NSW Farmers association was in attendance to allow students to gain more information, ask questions and join as members.
Becoming the NSW Young Farmers Eastern Riverina branch, the social branch hopes to strengthen its’ membership over the coming months to hold valuable industry events for the area. They will be holding an annual general meeting in the coming months and new members are encouraged to attend.
