A RARE alignment of high prices across the sheep and wool industry has put the sector in good stead.
Wool has rallied to high levels and this combined well with prime lamb returns at a saleyard level plus values for replacement sheep.
So an information session called It’s Ewe Time in Wagga was well attended.
More than 60 producers from throughout NSW and Victoria attended the event at Joyes Hall.
Speakers from Australian Wool Innovation, Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), Achieve Ag Solutions, Charles Sturt University, AgriPartner Consulting and Icon Agriculture presented from the podium.
MLA program manager, Hamish Chandler of Armidale said the event was about providing producers with what is best practice and what is latest in research and development.
“We have been talking about some of the meat science aspects and where the markets are currently up to,” Mr Chandler said.
There was also talk about the flock size and what direction numbers might be headed in given the rebuilding phase.
“We have been looking at developments for wool and looking at some of the animal health and welfare aspects of the industry,” he said.
