Bulls peaked at $16,500 at the Onisforou family’s 21st annual K.O. Angus production sale on-property at Kangaloon in the Southern Highlands.
Fifty four of the 60 bulls offered sold for an average price of $7407.
The top money of $16,500 was paid for K.O. 839 Reality L87, a son of the popular New Zealand sire, Matauri Reality 839, renowed for his structural soundness out of a Millah Murrah Equator D78 daughter.
Reality L87 was in the top one per cent of the Angus breed for calving ease daughters and scrotal size and top five pc for calving ease direct, gestation length, 400- and 600-day weights, and mature cow weight.
He was purchased via AuctionsPlus by Bannaby Angus, Taralga.
AuctionsPlus was active throughout the sale, purchasing 15 lots in total including four bulls, two embryo packages and nine heifers.
Three bulls reached the second top price of $13,000 all being February 2016 born embryo transfer calves.
The first. K.O. G18 General M11, sired by Ayrvale General was purchased by Crosby’s Angus, “Cherry Tree Hill”, Forbes.
K.O. G18 General M3, again sired by Ayrvale General G18, was purchased by Boambold Pastoral Company, Yass.
Rosedale Rural, Cambelltown, Tasmania, bought K.O. Double Vision M8, a son of Jindra Double Vision.
C & K Meyn, Scotts Flat, led the volume purchasers loading four bulls for an average of $6750 with a $9000 top.
While CH & KR Wills, Mandurama, Troy Wilton, “Victoria Park”, Maitland, Riverview Wallah and Co, “Wallah”, Rugby, and Narranbulla Partnership, “Narranbulla”, Goulburn, each purchased three bulls.
Three of the four embryo packages sold to a top of $2200 per embryo with an average of $1400 per embryo.
The top price joining was sired by Pathfinder Genesis G357 out of donor dam, K.O, Moongarra H2, selling to Wakefield Angus, Armidale.
While 25 heifers sold of 36 offered for a $4060 average and topped at $7500 for K.O. Deam M55 purchased by M.F. Boltes, Inverell, operating through AuctionsPlus.
The Boltes purchased two further heifers for a $5833 average as well as an embryo package.
Ayr Park Angus, Woodstock purchased the second top price female K.O. Moongarra M62 for $7000 and added two further heifers for an average of $5000.
John Wilson, Jamberoo, purchased three heifers for an avergae price of $3667 as well as two bulls.
Elders Goulburn conducted the auction with Andy McGeoch and Joe Wilks sharing the rostrum duties.
