Safety has been front of mind for buyers of new side-by-side vehicles, says Polaris regional manager for NSW, Kris Matich.
He said Polaris was seeing the side-by-sides overtake sales of quad bikes.
“I would say of everything we’ve sold here it’s been about 60 to 70 per cent side-by-side vehicles,” he said.
He said part of it was due to education around safety, but also people could see the value in the side-by-sides.
“You can get into one of these for about $13,000,” he said. One of the upper-end price range quads on the site was about $15,000.
“A lot of this awareness is also coming from SafeWork NSW who are doing a great job at putting info out about what’s safe,” Mr Matich said.
SafeWork NSW was offering a $1000 rebate for primary producers who completed an online education course.
He said good demand remained for the quads because they were smaller and highly maneuverable, but as demand for the side-by-sides grew, the price also came down.
