What better way to celebrate 70 years of breeding beef seedstock than with a complete clearance at the 2017 Hicks Beef spring bull sale held on property “Annandayle South”, Holbrook.
The Hicks family offered and sold 67 bulls for a $6687 average with the $11,000 top price recorded for a Red Angus bull in Hicks New Direction L99.
In the break down 13 Red Angus bulls averaged $6385.
Thirty one black Australian Beef Composite bulls averaged $6710 with a top of $10,000 recorded for ABC L543 a son of Angus sire Rennylea J138 who sold to RA, JE & AP Ross, “Wongalee”, Holbrook.
While 23 red Australian Beef Composite bulls averaged $6826 with a top of $9000 for ABC L856 a Leachman Cadillac L025A who sold to AACo, Queensland.
Repeat buyers and strong supporters of the Hicks Beef program Garrison Cattle Feeders, Swan Hill, returned to buy 23 bulls for an average price of $6,261 paying to a top of $8500 twice.
AACo purchased 10 bulls in all paying to a top of $9000 twice for a $6500 average.
The auction was conducted by Elders, Holbrook, with Joe Wilks calling the bids.
