A virtual reality tour of the new Casino saleyards, the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange, has been produced by contractors Wiley and released by the Richmond Valley Council after cattle sales resumed last week.
For two weeks agents united in a stand against paying up front for the new premises, saying conditions for a sale were atrocious with construction underway. Many producers and industry associates agreed with the agents.
Meanwhile, council general manager Vaughan Macdonald has explained that the first rate facility will cost general ratepayers an expense that should be hefted by the rural sector.
Mr Macdonald mentioned that producers would be required to invest some ‘skin in the game’ if this project was to succeed after construction.
Design firm Wiley was responsible for the recent upgrades to cold storage handling at the neighbouring Northern co-operative Meat Company, and excels at presenting its plans like this.
