It was a great day of celebrations for the Routley family as they conducted their 30th Annual Poll Sale on property “Almondvale”, Urana.
The family sold 56 of the 60 poll rams offered to a top price of $3000 twice and an average of $1498.
Both top-price rams were purchased by return client of seven years Laurie Beer, “Woodbury”, Deniliquin with.
Accompanying the Poll sale the Routley’s conducted their 14th White Suffolk sale.
The 80 rams offered were sold for an average of $1350 to a top of $3500.
The $3500 top price ram was purchased by Bill Darmondy, “Wantana”, Booroowa.
Mr Beer who breeds a self replacing poll merino flock has had good results with Almondvale Poll rams increasing cut and reducing micron.
Mr Beer purchased three White Suffolk rams in addition two his two Poll purchases for a $1267 average to use over the ‘seconds’ of his poll merino ewes to breed prime lambs.
Almondvale was suggested to Mr Darmody by a stud consultant and he came to find a stud ram which he did so in the top price ram.
Mr Darmody also purchased a second flock ram for $1400.
An additional four White Suffolk flock rams were sold after the auction.
Volume purchasers included Australian Food & Agriculture, “Barratta”, Deniliquin who purchased 18 White Suffolk rams at a $1111 average.
The auctions were conducted by Landmark, with Peter Cabot and Peter Godbolt the auctioneers.
