POLL DORSET performance rams full of quality and Lambplan statistics were in high demand at the 17th annual Marocara Dorsets sale at Wongarbon, last Tuesday.
In a total auction clearance 185 rams topped at $2800 and averaged $1643 made up with 149 autumn drop rams averaging $1653 and 36 spring drops averaging $1555.
Returning to buy the top-priced ram was Marocara stud supporter Ross Bayliss, “Roselea”, Bakers Swamp just south of Wellington, a second-cross prime lamb producer with a high reputation for breeding top-quality lambs.
Among repeat buyers out of the 36 registered bidders Fletcher International, Condobolin, bought 20 rams for a $1875 average, while Andy Martin-Smith, “Glenfinnan”, Nimmitabel, gained 15 rams to average $1400. Matt and Kylie Whale, “Glenroy”, Wellington, secured 14 rams averaging $1414 while Steve Goldsmith, “Urungie”, Coonamble, paid an average $1533 for 12 rams. The Wilson family, “Lowestoff”, Gowrie, south of Tamworth returned to purchase 11 rams averaging $1818 while the Pengilley family, Forbes, bought 10 raams to average $1430. David Pratten, “Amaroo”, Molong, 10 rams averaged $1720. Steve Gay and John Lindsay coordinated the sale for Carter Lindsay Weber.
