TIMOR sheep stud inaugural production sale was well supported reaching a top of $1200 on two occasions yesterday.
Held at Parkes showground, Jason and Vicki Barker offered Australian Whites, White Suffolks, Suffolks, Poll Dorset and composite rams.
Sixteen Australian White rams sold of the 27 offered for a 59 per cent clearance and an average of $794.
The top priced Australian White ram was purchased by Rod and Leanne Middleton, Lake Cargelligo for $1200.
The August born ram was the top pick of the Middleton’s weighing in at 81.5 kilograms. They also secured two other Australian White rams on the day.
The Barker family sold 16 White Suffolk rams of the 22 offered for a 73 pc clearance, averaging $800.
Brian Norris, Norris Brothers, Lake Cargelligo, purchased the top price White Suffolk ram for $1200.
The sale topper, Timor 33, weighed 113kg and measured six millimeters fat depth and 30.46 mm in the EMA.
Shown successfully this year at Sydney Royal, the ram was a class winner in the woolly ram lamb section.
The Norris Brothers, through Gerrard and Partners, Young, purchased the ram for his length, depth and thickness.
Securing a total of seven rams from the sale, Norris Brothers are repeat clients previously purchasing the 2016 Sydney Royal champion White Suffolk ram.
Two Poll Dorset rams sold for a 100 pc clearance, $900 top and $900 average.
Two composite rams also sold for a 100 pc clearance, topping at $900 and averaging $875.
Mr Barker said he was happy with how the first sale went and looks forward to the future.
A Helsman ewe auction was held at the conclusion of the ram sale with eight young ewes offered.
A number of the passed in rams were sold after auction.
The sale was conduced by Langlands Hanlon, Parkes, with Geoff Rice as the auctioneer.
Mr Rice said they were happy with turn out at the first sale and they were happy with the results.
“We look forward to working with the Barker’s into the future,” he said.
