It was a most successful sale for the Rubie family on Wednesday when their Lachlan Merino stud sale cleared 138 of 140 rams at auction for a top of $10,000 and average $2683.
The Bedgerabong-based stud sold 98 Poll Merino rams to the top price and average of $2717 and 40 Merino rams to $5525 to average $2600.
Scott Bowden of A.V. Bowden and Sons, “Cluny”, Bothwell, Tasmania, paid the $10,000 top money for a 109 kilograms August/September 2016 drop Poll ram growing 18.9 micron wool.
Buying the top $5525 Merino ram among 31 rams purchased were Mark and Carol Jones and son, Brad, “Booroola”, Condobolin, Lachlan ram buyers of many years standing and whose flock has won the coveted Don Brown (Condobolin) Merino maiden ewe competition.
