VALUES were definitely up on recent sales when 15,000 mainly Merino sheep sold to mainly local, tablelands and slopes graziers despite the prolonged dry and topping at $262 for the best pen of young ewes at the West Wyalong District Sheep Breeders Association sale yesterday.
The top pen was from Alan and Jennifer Ireland, “Allonvale”, Tullibigeal, who sold 98 of their One Oak blood May 2016 drop April shorn Merino ewes to a Wagga Wagga area restocker.
A big line of Paraway Pastroal Company’s “East Borambil”, Condobolin, Merino ewes totalling 2023 of Pooginook blood topped at $237 and averaged $202.
First cross ewes, in very short supply sold to $208.
