A 61-year-old driver has found himself in trouble with the law after police initially stopped the driver for having an unsecured load, only to discover two children inside without seat belts.
The tabletop ute was spotted with unsecured star pickets, a shovel, a broken hale bale and drums, on the Snowy Mountains Highway, Adelong about 3pm Sunday.
Police say none of the items were tied down or secured in any way.
Inside the vehicle were two young children aged three and under.
Police say one child was seated between the male driver and the female passenger with no seat belt available. The other toddler was seated on the female passengers lap with one seat belt around both of them.
The driver was issued with two infringements for each unrestrained child and a further infringement for the unsecured load.
