Nestled in a valley at the foothills of the Nandewar Ranges on the edge of Narrabri, "Spring Creek" has been held by the one family since the 1920s.
Originally running Devon and Devon cross cattle, the property now runs composite Angus breeders (200) carrying the progeny onto feedlot and EU markets.
“Spring Creek” is ideally set up for beef cattle production with a secure rainfall and quality pastures providing a great platform for beef cattle breeding and fattening.
The prime beef cattle property 1602 hectares (3960 acres), just 30km north east of Narrabri, is owned by Brett and Sandy Findlay who are downsizing to focus on volunteer efforts.
The property, once part of the vast Killarney Station holding, was purchased by Mrs Findlay’s grandfather in the 1920s.
The Findlays came back to the property in 1992 after working with the Western Australian agriculture department in farm planning. They have done some significant improvements.
Water is a feature of the farm...the property boasts a 28 inch average annual rainfall.
“Spring Creek” has been fenced into easy to manage paddocks, with approximately 270 hectare (667 acres) established to tropical grasses including gatton panic, bambatsi, purple pigeon and premier digit. In addition, a fertiliser program has been carried out across the farm since 1997.
The property boasts a 28 inch average annual rainfall. Water is a feature of the farm, with the main bore of the homestead servicing two tanks and 14 troughs, plus 25 dams located around the property.
Soils comprise black & red basalt and chocolate and sandy loams. Timber includes Myall, Wilga, Kurrajong, Belah, White Box and Ironbark. It has two comfortable three-bedroom air conditioned homes (one brick and one timber), four machinery sheds, horse stables, two silos and a set of wean design steel cattle yards.
The three-bedroom timber home that overlooks an ornamental lake has established gardens. It features solar panels (6.5kW), Miele appliances, granite bench tops, lounge and study as well as log fire. There is a vegetable garden and poultry shed. The auction will be held on November 16 at Landmark Narrabri 11am.
