WELCOMED rain replenishing grazier optimism and sheep industry confidence was reflected at today’s Narromine store sheep sale when first cross ewes topped at $224 and Merino ewes made up to $178.
Buyers among the crowd of 90 attendees chased the limited number of store lambs with a pen of $27 from the Read family, Claremont”, Narromine, selling at $106 a head for the April 2017 drop White Suffolk/Merino cross lambs crutched but unshorn selling to Scott and Simone Purseglove, “Wahroonga”, Trangie, who also sold 65 first cross ewes at $210 each.
Ralf, Marilyn and Greg Masonwells, “Kaloombi”, Narromine topped the sale with 55 first cross ewes, July/August 2016 drop, August shorn, sell at $224 to Ian, Pam and Andrew Roberts, Woogogy”, Narromine.
Ian and Marilyn Williamson and family, “Auroa Park”, Tullamore, gained $178 a head for their draft of 130 Merino ewes of Genanigee blood, May/June 2016 drop August shorn.
