EVERYTHING producers need to know for optimum performance from the rams in their Merino operations is covered under the new workshop from Sheep Connect NSW, RAMping Up Repro.
The practical half-day workshop, developed by AWI and Zoetis, started as a NSW initiative but will be rolled out across the country, AWI’s manager, woolgrower education and capacity building, Emily King, said.
“We look at everything that forms part of the ram preparation process, from drenching to fly protection, vaccination, shearing, ram health and nutrition.

“We held six pilot workshops this year and the response was very good because it’s hands-on, which builds producers’ confidence in managing their rams more effectively before and during joining.
“We’ll be giving producers practical information, like what condition score 3.5 looks like in their rams, along with practice in palpation and assessing the four Ts (teeth, toes, testicles and tossle).”
