New stud ready to showcase stock in NEMFD
FOR the recently established Clovernook Poll Merino stud, the New England Merino Field Days will be the first opportunity to showcase their sheep to potential clients.
Todd and Bec Whillock, in partnership with Todd’s parents Ian and Janet, established stud last year.
Most of the ewes came from the family’s commercial flock, but the Whillocks also bought some Nerstane and Petali ewes, with semen from various studs used.
“We’ve had a commercial flock for many years and we’ve been breeding rams for years but registered the stud last year,” Todd said.
The Woolbrook stud will display their stock at Uralla Showground on day one of the event.
“We’ll have a selection of young hogget rams, maybe some older sires and probably some ewe hoggets or weaners, as well as some of our fleeces on show, so we can show the depth to our breeding program.”
