In their own unique way, Goulburn truckie Barney Collins and his dogs Ted and Boss have been spreading the Christmas cheer far and wide this year.
Putting some serious miles under his belt as a driver for Goulburn Livestock, Mr Collins give his dogs a very special work uniform during transit.
With a garland of tinsel around their necks, Ted and Boss hang out and greet passers buy as they make their way around the state.
Mr Collins said he noticed the dogs like to get some air and often got a nice reaction from kids in passing by vehicles.
“It just twigged with me one day, they are always hanging out having a look and you can see them in the mirror,” Mr Collins said.
Mr Collins said he loves seeing the reaction of other drivers and people riding in cars.
“They give you a bit of a beep of the horn and a wave,” he said.
“Everyone gets down in the dumps these days, especially at this time of year, so it is nice to put a smile on their face.”
Goulburn women Cathey Stanberg snapped a photo of Ted and Boss spreading the cheer on Sloane Street.
Mrs Stanberg said her kids love seeing the dogs sticking their heads out of the boxes normally.
“They most definitely loved seeing tinsel on the dogs and truck, it was a real treat,” Mrs Stanberg said.
Posting the photo on the Bush Kids facebook page, Mrs Stanberg said she was surprised how many comments the post got on the online community.
And it isn’t just Christmas when the dogs dress up.
Most of the year around they wear Australian flags in true patriotic style and come State of Origin they fly the flag for the Maroons.
Mr Collins said on one particular day it was pulled over by a police officer who took offence to the choice of colour for his dogs.
“He said ‘I should get you for animal cruelty with those Queensland flags’,” he said.
“I said to him ‘I tell you what if you [NSW] win you can send me a ticket’. I saw him later on and he said ‘you got away with it this time mate’.”
