Veteran Wodonga cattle fattener, Kevin Draper, came to the first Angus weaner sale for the year at Barnawartha selling complex today looking for value for money.
“I am in no hurry, there are a number of weaner sales to go,” he said at Corcoran Parker’s successful sale.
He was looking for 20 to 25 lighter weaner steers around 150-200kg to grow out to 550-600kg liveweight at 18 months on his farm, “Leneva”, near Wodonga.

He sold prime steers at Barnawartha selling complex just before Christmas for $1600 to $1650.
Mr Draper runs his cattle on land first settled by his great great grandfather, Edward Draper, in 1856 although the size of the property has shrunk over the years to about 120ha of blue-ribbon pasture country of mainly clover and ryegrass.
He doesn’t exclusively buy Angus and is currently running some Charolais and Herefords.
