Moree and Quirindi Showgirls will compete for the title of Sydney Royal Showgirl after winning the Zone 4 finals.
A 22 year old physiotherapy student from Quirindi and an agronomist from Moree were chosen as the Zone 4 finalists to compete for the title of The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl for 2018.
Quirindi Showgirl Pollyanna Easy, 22, finished years 7- 12 at Calrossy Anglican School, then commenced her studies in biomedical science and is currently studying Physiotherapy at University of Newcastle.
When she completes of her degree in 2019, she hopes to work in Newcastle, or another large metropolitan hospital to glean additional knowledge and experience in a dynamic enviroment.
Her intention is to return to set up a practice in her home town and provide the necessary services in and around the north west.
Pollyanna has seen her friends and family travel quite some distances for specialist treatments and believes there is a huge need for these services in country areas.
In her spare time, she loves to compete in show jumping, cooking and sewing and being involved with the Quirindi Pony Club.
Moree Showgirl Kate Lumber, 23 attended McCarthy Catholic College, Tamworth, and is an agronomist with ICMS Cotton. Kate has her Batchelor of Rural Science with Honors from University of New England, and has completed various short courses: upskilling and training, sustainable grains and cotton production, chickpea best management practices and precision agriculture.
Kate's intensions are to continue to grow her skills base, whilst striving to achieve the most productive, economic and sustainable outcomes for her growers.
As Kate has a love of music and theatre, she is involved in the Moree Community Choir along with the Moree Arts Community Theatre. She also plays both mixed and ladies netball, as well as mixed tennis and hockey. Her other keen interests are her horses and showing cattle.
Zone 4 was hosted by Armidale and New England Show Society and the judges included ASC delegate , Bianca Williams, ASC Vice President, Peter Gooch and The Land's Roland Cowley.
The two winners were chosen out of competitive line up of 16 showgirls and the other finalists were: Sophie Wood, Armidale; Sally Williams, Ashford; Emma Cummins, Barraba; Kirsty McCormack, Bundarra; Alice Sheather, Dorrigo; Tiana McDonald, Glen Innes; Sophie Clift, Gunnedah; Lisa Saunders, Guyra; Felicity Sims, Inverell; Libby Baguly Narrabri; Ellie Griffiths, Tenterfield; Claudia Cush, Warialda; Tanisha Daniel, Walcha and Amelia Inder, Walgett.
