The new Westfield Storm seed treater is designed to take the guesswork out of seed treatment.
The Storm (seed treatment optimised rate metering) is the latest innovation in seed treatment equipment.
It was designed for delivery precision application in a convenient and simple use package for on farm treating that growers control.
It is designed for large farmers and seed re-sellers who want to treat seed quickly, effectively and very accurately.
“A semi-trailer load of seed can be treated in approximately 30 minutes,” a company spokesman said.
“The specially designed integrated mixing auger ensures consistent seed coverage and minimises damage to the seed.
“It will apply two different seed treatments simultaneously, quickly and very accurately.
“High volumes of chickpea, wheat or barley can be treated when you want it, in one simple step.
“This highly portable, self propelled unit allows seed to be treated in a completely enclosed system, reducing exposure and mess.
“The Storm consists of a Westfield 10 inch by 41 foot auger with a cleated conveyor belt at the intake which very accurately measures the grain into the slow turning auger.
“The peristaltic pumps then precisely meter the treatment via spray nozzles at the base of the auger to match seed flow rates.
“Up to 815kg of seed per minute can be accurately treated.
“The electronic controls system comes pre-programmed for Bayer crop science products with the ability to store 10 other treatment products such as liquid innoculants and seed nutrition.
“This machine allows farmers, with large areas of chickpeas or cereal crops to plant, to very easily and accurately inoculate and treat big volumes of seed very quickly with a minimum of fuss.
“It is also suitable for seed dealers and re-sellers to precisely treat seed when a custom blend of treatments needs to be quickly completed.
“Therefore you only treat the seed you need, eliminating wastage.
“These machines are available now.”
