Now in its 42nd year, the Macleay Challenge Campdraft held at Gladstone had 1250 runs, 1500 head of cattle and 400 competitors from as far as south Queensland and the Hunter Valley.

Wingham Beef Exports Teams Challenge Campdraft:
Winning team – team 4 consisting of Tony Mortimer, Scott Edwards, Gerald O'Brien and Kyra O'Brien with 219 points
Equal second and third was divided between the Macleay Challenge Team consisting of Michelle Wilson, Bob Fuller, Paul Barnes and Laurie Argue as well as Team 14 consisting of Lochie Argue, Brandon Brahe, Daniel Carey and Scott Ryan both on 200 points

First Bruce Coulthard riding Fig with an 89, 2/3 Jamie Carruthers, 2/3 Wayne Murray, 4/5 John Corrigan, 4/5 Christine Jones.
Novice draft – first round
First Jordan Snape on Playdough with 90; equal second,third and fourth Tim McCarthy, Kate Schiffmann and Nathan Buckley with 88; equal fifth Sam Colwell, Nathan Buckley and Janette Murray with 87.

First Nick Clydsdale riding Cowgirl with an 89, Equal second/third/fourth Lochie Argue, Garry Sutherland and Greg Cox with an 88, fifth Daniel McAuliffe with an 86. Highest cut out winner Daniel McAuliffe on Grace.
Maiden A - Leo Rosten Trophy
First April Langridge riding Jackson with an 88, second Graeme Cox, 3/4 Lochie Argue, 3/4 Tracey Gray, 5 Alan Sinclair, 5 Robert Perkins, 5 Gerard Prior. Highest cut out winner Laurie Argue.
2018 Ladies Campdraft
First Penny MacIntosh riding Dance with a 88 and highest cut out winner with 22, equal second on 86 points Lesley Apps, Kylie Fowler, Olivia Gray, Kyra O'Brien and Tracey Gray.

The 2018 Epic Horse Sale and Campdraft will be held at the Kempsey Showground from March 16-18 with the first annual Working Dog Sale to be held in conjunction. Dogs will be pre-worked on Friday evening, with the sale on Saturday evening.
