It has just been announced that member for Orange, Philip Donato has donated 2.5 per cent of his pay rise from his pay cheque to drought charity Aussie Helpers.
“Politicians received a 2.5pc pay rise this year, but I don't think it's fair that we should get a pay rise when farmers are struggling,
“That's why I'm donating my pay rise to the drought relief charity Aussie Helpers,” said Philip Donato.
Aussie Helper’s founder, Brian Egan received the pay cheque early Monday morning.
“I was very surprised to receive the pay cheque, this will go towards helping alot of families facing the drought conditions. Phil Donato has shown a lot of support in what we trying to achieve with in the charity and with this donation it’s keeping the bush alive,” said Mr Egan.
The Orange member has put out a challenge to all other regional and rural MP’s, both state and federal, to donate their pay rises and show their support for the farmers.
