Dubbo’s last store cattle sale for the year attracted a small offering of 250 head, but a large crowd creating a dearer market last Friday.
Cows with calves attracted buyer demand, especially after good rain in some areas.
Best units were a line of Hereford/Angus cows with older calves at foot sold to a top of $1290 and down to $1025 from the same consignments. First-calver Angus units made $1190.
Weaner steers sold from $270 to $610 with good quality Herefords topping the sale. This section averaged $440 while weaner heifers made from $330 to $600 to average $425.
Yearling steers ranged from $565 to $840 a head, while heifers sold to $670 a head and dry cows to $635.
