PYMBLE Ladies College student Phoebe Coles, Sydney, has topped the state for agriculture in the HSC with a score of 99.
Miss Coles was pleased with the unexpected result and thanked her teacher, Sally Rivett, for her success.
She believes more city students should do agriculture as a subject. It is popular in the country, but it is just as important for Sydney kids. They need to understand where their food and fibre comes from especially as it continually becomes a more important area of society over time, Miss Coles said.
There are a lot of opportunities within the industry that they dont know about.
She is hoping to develop a career in medicine to eventually work in rural and regional practices.
Second highest result in state for agriculture went to Thomas Malcolm McPherson from Barker College.
Top result for HSC primary industries went to Emily Jeffrey from Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes, with second highest to Yanco Agricultural High School student Lindsay Brown.
