University of New England fourth-year student, Sarah Loveridge, is looking for producers to take part in a survey on the impact of drought for her honours research project.
The Bachelor of Agricultural and Resource Economics student said she has chosen to look at drought because it is relevant to both herself and the current state-wide situation.
"Obviously at the moment there's a large proportion of NSW experiencing drought," Ms Loveridge said.
"In May this year the NSW Department of Primary Industries said almost 90 per cent of the state was in drought and 14.2pc was classified as severe drought.
"I grew up an hour north of Hay, at Gunbar, Mum and Dad have a Merino sheep property, so it's an issue that's close to my heart as well."
Ms Loveridge said the survey takes approximately 20 minutes and asks respondents how their livelihood, well-being and community has been affected by drought.
"There's also questions surrounding climate change, do they believe in it and do they think it's attributing to the drought they're experiencing," Ms Loveridge said.
Ms Loveridge said she hopes the results of the survey can help policy makers better support primary producers during periods of drought.
