With a bit over 700 weaners and a few grown steers on offer during the annual autumn feature sale on account Elders, Cooma quality was mixed and prices were commensurate with the offering.
Elders, Cooma manager Sam Green quoted the sale on Thursday as strong on the better pens of steers but overall prices were on par with current sales.
"The steer calves which were fresh and with good weight sold to consistent demand but those which were showing the affects of the season were back in price," he said.
"The heifers sold very well but overall the sale for lighter weights was steady on yesterday."
Some indicative prices $1265 for 10 Rosskin-blood weaner steers sold by A Downing: $1245 for nine Angus weaners sold by R.R and A.R Norton and $1220 for five Angus weaners sold by Quartz Hill Partnership.
In the heifer pens, Chimney Ridge, sold six Brookfield Park-blood Angus for $1000: J and R Rudd sold 14 Brookfield Park-blood heifers for $930 and G and T Ferguson sold 20 Hazeldean-blood heifers for $820.
The cattle were not weighed but buyers quoted purchases at up to 390c/kg for heifers and from 460c/kg to over 500c/kg for steers.
Strong buying competition came from Tamworth, Queanbeyan and feedlot interests while there was limited local interest.
