NSW Farmers' will be postponing its annual conference due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter sent to its members today, NSW Farmers' chief executive Pete Arkle said the board made the difficult decision to postpone the conference late yesterday.
"The health and well-being of our members, staff and conference partners is our highest priority, and given the uncertainty around the next few months, including the potential for restrictions on large gatherings to be extended into July, this decision was required," Mr Arkle said in the letter.
It was supposed to be an election year with all positions open for nomination.
NSW Farmers president James Jackson told The Land that the board was looking at options to satisfy constitutional and legal obligations.
Mr Arkle added in his letter that there were a range of governance, electoral and policy implications arising from this decision.
"The board and leadership team are exploring options to ensure we can balance these critical matters, and progress the important business of the Association as soon as it is safe and permissible to do so," he said.
Member will be updated on the plan as soon as possible.
Like many businesses, NSW Farmers' St Leonards team has now transitioned to remote working, with all members available through their normal contact details.
