Repeat loyal buyers pushed the top price to $20,000 at Elite Poll Herefords annual bull sale at Gundy on Thursday.
The stud sold 31 of 32 bulls under the hammer averaging $6403 with the last bull sold after the sale to Coffs Harbour to update the clearance to 100 per cent and average $6328.
The first bull in the catalogue Elite M110 P171, fondly known as Big Dave, secured the top price of $20,000 purchased by Guy and Suzanne Lord, Branga Plains, Walcha.
The 22-month-old son of Elite H284 M110 was in the top 10 per cent estimated breeding value for 400-day growth, eye muscle area and top 15 pc for intramusclular fat.
The Lord family have been purchasing Elite Herefords for more than 15 years and run a commercial operation, with a nucleus of purebred Herefords to breed their own bulls. They purchased a second Elite H284 son, the 20-month-old Elite M110 P278, for $9000.
The bulk of the draft was purchased by Forstoria-Fannon Pty Ltd of Timor, taking home 10 bulls for a top of $8500 and average of $4600.
