The picturesque green hills at Cudal were a stark contrast to the desolate fields of last year at the Ridgehaven Poll Dorset annual sale on Thursday.
The rams were fit and ready for work and this was reflected in 138 rams sold from 139 on offer for a 99 percent clearance and average of $1646.
The autumn drop single ram Ridgehaven-190100 a son of Tattykeel-150172 secured the $3600 top price purchased by Trevor Smith, Pine Park, Forbes for his self replacing Poll Dorset flock.
The Smith family purchased a total of three rams to average $2,666.
The bulk of the draft was purchased by agent Hugh Dobell, McCarron Cullinane Chudleigh on behalf of Sunshine farms, taking home 23 rams.
After a fierce battle between Auction Plus and on the floor, all 20 stud ewes were purchased by John Chadwick, Eagles View, Running stream to a top of $2700.
After losing all of his stud ewes and lambs last year in the December fires, Mr Chadwick was determined to bring home all 20 ewes to start his stud operation from the ground up.
One of the Ridgehaven principals, Isabele Roberts,was ecstatic with the results of the sale.
