Tamworth Livestock Selling agents yarded 1400 head at the fortnightly store sale last Friday with average store quality cattle in the majority but with some very good stand out lines, mostly from the dispersal of Grovelands at Currabubula.
Steers reached a top of $1470 ($1840 last sale) for Charolais-cross 12 to 14 months old sold through Chris Paterson Stock and Station Agency for Nick Johnston, Wallanbah Cattle Co, Gloucester.
The lead pen of Angus/Black Simmental steers sold by Nutrien Livestock for Grovelands made the same money.
Most steers sold in the range of $1050 to $1350, reported Scott Simshauser from Nutrien.
The McIllveen family sold Angus steers to $1390 and black baldy yearlings off crop for $1370 through agents Garvin and Cousens.
The Grant family sold Angus eight to ten months for $1380 going through the same agents.
Heifers sold to a tremendous top of $1680 ($1580 last sale) for an impressive line of Speckle Park, eight to 10 months, from Ingall Fairview at Wallabadah through Elders and now destined for a breeder job.
Heifers in general made from $1000 to $1280.
Other good heifer sales included Angus cross, rising 12 months, from Grovelands through Nutrien Livestock making $1480.
Simmental from Ballantine and Levingston made $1320 through McCulloch Agencies. Angus from Springvale through Elders reached bids of $1300.
Charolais from CB Abra and Sons at Bingera brought $1130 sold through Purtle Plevey Agencies.
Cows with calves made a new record price of $3480 ($3025 last sale) for Grovelands Angus/Black Simmental sold through Nutrien. Cows with August drop calves made $3000.
Pregnancy-tested-in-calf cows sold to $2300 ($2110 last sale) for Angus in calf to a son of Millah Murrah Clunie, sold through Nutrien for Leddingham Investments.
Other good results included poll Hereford on their third calf selling for $2125 from Winrolga through Nutrien.
Another pen of the same, mixed age, made $2025.
Speckle Park cows in calf for the first time made $1790 produced by the Todd family from Armidale selling through Nutrien Livestock.
