HE'S been a bit of a headache over the past year but John Boserio is hopeful that a recent first career victory for Rocknroll Times will be a turning point for the three-year-old. Rocknroll Times will look to go back-to-back to start his new preparation when he goes out from gate five in Wednesday night's Bling It On @ Cobbity Equine Farm 3YO Pace (1,730 metres). The Rock N Roll Heaven gelding has gone through his share of maturity issues and illnesses but his recent dominant victory was an encouraging sign. The win was the first start Rocknroll Times had for the Boserio stable after coming back across from Chris Frisby's operation, where he'd spent the first 12 races of his career. Boserio said trying to get Rockroll Times ready for his two-year-old season last year was quite the task. "He's been a bit of a problem all his life. He kept tipping me out and doing all sorts of things wrong. I'm too old to be tipped out now, so I gave him to Chris and Anthony Frisby for a while, and they've done a good job of settling him down," he said. "I'm having another go with him, so we changed a few things and he kicked a bit of goal last start but he's still got a long way to go. "Working on the straight track seems to have made a big difference. It's got him fired up and keen. Hopefully he keeps improving, because if he does he could be a nice horse." Things could have been a lot worse for Rocknroll Times after an unfortunate off track incident last year. "He missed out on almost all his two-year-old season because he needed an operation on his gut," Boserio said. "He ate a bucket of blue metal and that definitely didn't do him much good, so after all that it's been great to see him looking alright." Amanda Turnbull has the drive on Rocknroll Times. Boserio doesn't expect the draw to have too much of an impact on proceedings. "He should jump straight to the front with any luck. That's the plan," he said. "He's got a bit of gate speed so if can get to the front I think he'll be hard to beat." Boserio has two other runners at the Bathurst meeting who have already proven themselves at a high level - Group 1 winner Hes Sweet and Group 2 champion Mistery Road. Hes Sweet looks right in the mix among an open ID21 @ Bathurst 1 December Pace (1,730m) while Mistery Road's gate eight draw will be a big hurdle to overcome in the McWicked @ Cobbity Equine Farm Pace (1,730m). "They're both going pretty good. Mistery Road has landed himself a pretty bad draw but he's been looking alright," he said. "Hes Sweet's a nice little horse. I think with a little bit of luck he should go alright in his race." Racing at Bathurst Paceway will start from 5.42pm. Our journalists work hard to provide local, up-to-date news to the community.
