AFTER an extended dry spell at Geurie, Jess Smith and Wes Cox decided to put in some more water troughs for their cattle over Easter - and of course it started raining.
"We got about 30 millimetres... and we're certainly not complaining," Ms Smith said.
The couple had been hand feeding the cattle at their property "Omeo" but the main problem throughout the past few months has been water.
"We were having water issues, getting enough water to the stock... we had to put a new (pipe) line in to get it to the troughs," Ms Smith said.
"We finally bit the bullet and spent Easter putting the new line in."
While the Easter rain was welcome, Ms Smith said it wasn't enough to make too much difference to their water availability issues, so the new pipeline and troughs would still come in handy now and into the future.
Ms Smith hoped the recent rain would also provide a little boost to pasture growth through April.
More rain was needed soon to see decent pasture growth before the weather gets too cold, she said.
"Some of the paddocks still have some dry feed, but we've been hand feeding (the stock)," Ms Smith said.
