FORGET chocolate eggs. What many farmers really want this Easter is rain.
According to weather forecasts it is on the way for most of NSW.
From Wagga Wagga to Walgett, from Byron Bay to Hay - the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has forecast falls, although the amounts forecast vary greatly across the state.
Weatherzone meteorologist Guy Dixon said deepening troughs in inland NSW and off the Queensland coast would combine to create rain on Friday and Saturday, with the highest falls expected on Saturday.
"Most locations should see at least some (rain)", Mr Dixon said.
Mr Dixon and the BoM forecast both concluded the only areas unlikely to receive any rain were those in the far west, such as to the north of Broken Hill.
Drought-stricken areas such as Walgett and Lightning Ridge were forecast to receive falls of between 15mm and 25mm.
Mr Dixon said the Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains could receive heavy falls of up to 40mm.
"The Riverina, Central West Slopes and Plains and eastern parts of the Western region should all receive some too."
Isolated thunderstorms across the state could also bring much higher falls, he said.
By Sunday, the conditions would ease across most of the state, with the rain contracting to the north east, however parts of the Northern Tablelands and Northern Rivers could still see some good falls towards.
