Just on 10,000 sheep were yarded for the 29th Spring Sheep sale at Condobolin last Thursday.
The strength of the Condobolin district as a producer of first-class quality sheep was noted when there was a total clearance of sheep offered.
Condobolin Sheep Breeders' Association secretary, Tom Kirk commended vendors on the style and condition of the sheep offered for sale.
"They are in excellent order," Mr Kirk said.
"There are great lines of one and half year-old ewes here which are a credit to the breeders and are well presented in top condition."
Best Presented Pen sponsored by Virbac was judged to be the pen of 311 Merino ewes, June/July 2014 drop, Belswick-blood, May shorn and NSM offered on account David, Gavin and Tom Stuckey, Stuckey Pastoral, "Corella" Condobolin.
The Stuckey family sold the classed young ewes surplus to their requirements for $196.
Top priced pen of young Merino ewes sold on account Mark Helyar, "Glenmore" Condobolin for $205.
The May/June 2014 drop, Belswick-blood, August shorn and NSM were purchased by Gordon and Des Louden, "Roseneath" Weethalle.
They were looking for replacement Merino ewes to join to Border Leicester rams for first-cross production.
Mark Helyar said they were the second draft of his maiden ewes classed by Alan Clarke, Dubbo.
Significant sales of young Merino ewes included 365 May/June 2014 drop, Milby-blood and August shorn sold on account Crouch Bros, "Milby" Condobolin for $198, 131 March/April 2014 drop, Lachlan Merino-blood and June shorn sold on account Mark and Carole Jones, "Flamingo" Condobolin for $198 and 220 July/August 2014 drop, Woodpark-blood and July shorn sold on account Ian and Jane Menzies, "Moonbah" Condobolin for $190.
Condobolin Associated Agents, Moncreiff Livestock and Property, Elders Limited, JN Straney and Sons and Kevin Miller, Whitty, Lennon and Co conducted the sale.
