STRONG allegiance to Pemcaw bloodlines was apparent at the stud’s 39th annual ram sale at Dunedoo today when 66 rams topped at $4000 and averaged $1588, an increase in average of $156 on last year’s sale for 65 rams.
Of the 14 return buyers 12 purchased three rams or more while six took home five or more rams bred and offered by Lou and Henry Armstrong and their families.
Buying two rams including the 18.2 micron $4000 sale-topper, Gavin Copelin and son, James, “Waringle”, Dunedoo, had plans to use them in their flock of 800 ewes growing an average 18 micron wool and cutting an average six kilograms.
“This is one of the best sale teams Pemcaw has produced in a number of years,” Gavin Coplein said.
“The top ram was selected for his depth, size and wool type.”
Greg Gallagher, “Leaweena”, Glen Innes, has been buying Pemcaw rams for 40 years because he likes the wool they breed and the type suits his country.
He paid $3200 second top price among five purchases.
Other multilot buyers included the Ponder family, Emaroo Station, North/West of Louth who took home 14 rams; Toby Allsworth, “Tantitha”, Narromine, who bought seven rams; and Gary Robson, “Kelvin Grove”, Gulargambone, who also bought sevn.
