The national variety trials (NVT), pasture production and canola disease resistance will be in focus at the 2015 Gerogery Field Day, at the Moll Family farm "Elderslie", 5 November 2015.
Held at "Elderslie" for over seven decades this is a key event on the calendar for southern Riverina farmers.
The annual Gerogery Field Day is an institution, said host Daniel Moll.
"We've been hosting the field day for over 70 years at the home farm 'Elderslie'," Mr Moll said.
"We've run the day with the LLS and DPI for over 40 years, and it's great to have Riverine Plains and Holbrook Landcare on board.
"We try to keep our field day as independent as we can."
Mr Moll said the trials are looking fantastic despite no rain for six weeks.
"Those who attend will get a good gauge on what should finish well in a tight season", he concluded.
The field days give farmers and advisors a chance to review new canola and cereal varieties in a farm situation prior to their commercial release.
Other agronomic topics to be discussed include new lucerne varieties, Blackleg resistance in canola, sustainable grazing management and dual purpose crop varieties for grazing and cropping.
Riverine Plains Inc are coordinating the field day this year, in conjunction with Holbrook Landcare, and support from Murray Local Land Services (LLS) and DPI.
Speakers on the day include Nigel Phillips, Kurt Lindbeck, Don McCaffery and Peter Matthews from NSW DPI, David Leah from Seed Force and Jeremy Roake from Waratah Seed Co.
The field day will commence at 11am on 5 November at "Elderslie", Fielder-Moll Road Gerogery.
A BBQ lunch will be provided.
