ONE of the largest contingents of beef enthusiasts attended today’s Dubbo store cattle sale, possibly as they couldn’t do much farm paddock work after the week-long rain and storms.
However, they witnessed, and some participated in the buying spree which resulted in a vastly dearer market for steers, heifers and cow and calf trading from the 740 head yarding.
Steers topped at $1060 to average $710 while weaners topped at $930 to average $690.
Heifers, especially PTIC, were in demand to top at $1075 and average $910 while weaner heifers made to $840 and averaged $600.
A line of 14 Charolais cows (4-6 years) with calves at foot by Limousine and Shorthorn bulls topped the sale at $2320 a unit.
