A QUALITY line-up of Angus genetics will be on offer at the 58th annual New England Angus Breeders sale on July 23.
The region’s premier multi-vendor Angus sale will feature 78 bulls from 16 studs across NSW and Western Australia, along with 10 females.
Vendors will send bulls from Dungowan, Orange, Duri, Kelvin, Timbumburi, Coonamble, Dorrigo, Quirindi, Camden, Narrandera, Guyra and Donnybrook, an area 200km south of Perth.
While there are a few less females, bull numbers are up from last year’s offering of 60 sires.
The sale, to be held for the second time at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange, is organised by Chris Paterson Stock and Station
Agents, Tamworth, and Purtle Plevey Agencies, Manilla, with Tamworth livestock agent Paul Dooley to auctioneer.
The sale reached a top of $9000 and averaged $4473 in 2013, and Mr Paterson said this sale could be just as good with some impressive bloodlines
coming through.
“There aren’t many multi-vendor Angus sales around and we’ve got genetics from all over the State so there’s something for everyone,” he
said.
“The sale gives buyers a lot of different options with sire lines available.”
The sale has played a large role in building the client bases of regular vendors, with mainly repeat buyers attending.
Dorrigo-based stud Tandara Angus, owned by Godfrey and Irene Darling, will sell at Tamworth for the first time, and Talis Angus, owned by the McLachlan Group which has properties in the Southern Highlands, Central West and New England, has returned after a few years away from the sale.
Mr Miller said McLachlan Group would sell their Airlie Charolais bulls at different sales, but this would be the only opportunity to secure Talis Angus genetics.
Tandara Angus, “Filling”, North Dorrigo will sell its six best bulls at amworth, all of them sired by Connealy Mentor.
Stud principal Godfrey Darling said NEAB sale’s well-established client base was a big advantage.
Talis will also offer heifers, along with Trowbridge BBB stud, Orange “Trowbridge sell all their females, so breeders are getting the best of what they’ve got,” Mr Paterson said.
“They flush donor cows to get plenty of calves on the ground then sell the heifers.”
The Newcombe family will offer the most bulls between two studs, Narrawolga Angus, owned by Trevor Newcombe, and Oakvale Angus, owned by his daughter Eliza.
Trowbridge will offer four bulls and seven females, Talis will offer five bulls and three females and Heart Angus, Timbumburi, has eight bulls in the sale.
The sale is to be held on Wednesday, July 23, at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange at 1pm.
A dinner for vendors and buyers will be held at the All Settlers Motor Inn the previous night.
