WITH the Westech field days held only every third year in the central west town of Barcaldine, the Twilight Bull Sale regularly draws a large crowd of buyers and onlookers as a major attraction and social event.
This year brought a tough market at the Westech Twilight Bull Sale due to the drought conditions that have spread throughout Western Queensland.
The 35 bulls were well presented by the four vendors and although there was a large crowd at the event there were only a handful of buyers willing or able to wave their bid cards.
Buying support came from the local area surrounding Barcaldine which was great to see considering the current conditions graziers are experiencing.
The top priced bull for the day went to RM Adams & Brennan from Blackall for $4000 from Paul Weir - Mylington, Croydon, Roma. The Charbray Bull Mylington 888 is 20 months of age from the sire Huntington Brendon.
Reg Burton from the North Queensland Register was present at the sale and captured the photos below.
Jeff Easton from Barcaldine purchased a 24 month old Droughtmaster bull from GM and LJ Bartolo, Carrinya, Nebo for $3750.
Of the 35 bulls put to auction, nine of those sold under the hammer to average $2575 with a final tally totalling $25,575.
