TWO students - one from West Wyalong and one from Cootamundra - will represent Agricultural Societies Council Zone 7 at this year’s The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition.
The Zone’s finals judging was held in Wagga Wagga on February 13 where a total of 16 Showgirls contested the chance to represent their local shows at Sydney.
West Wyalong Showgirl Catherine Worner is completing her Bachelor of Agricultural Science through Charles Sturt University, Wagga, and has enjoyed the opportunity to visit developing agricultural regions, such as Indonesia’s beef processing sector, the Philippines rice growing regions and farming regions of South Africa.

She has also obtained her wool classing certificate and competes in team penning, and campdrafting, along with netball, touch football and basketball.
Cootamundra’s Showgirl Lucy Collingridge, “Kilrush Cottage”, Cootamundra, has graduated from a Bachelor in Agriculture at the University of New England, Armidale, and like Catherine, does not come from a farm.
Her interest in agriculture also came about through involvement family members who also had farms.
Lucy is a rugby union fan, having played herself, and also enjoys soccer and horse riding, an interest which has extended to involvement with Riding for the Disabled.
She also has an interest sheep and wool production, however, longer term aims to establish her own agricultural consultancy or for a position in the field of biosecurity.
