THE annual Braidwood weaner sale last Friday was considerably dearer than the previous week with strong buyer support from three states pushing the market up for the 1800 yarding.
Steers sold to a top of $1195 a head for those sold by the Byrnes family, Braidwood with most heavier steers weighing 300 kilograms or more ranging from 300 cents a kilogram to 320c/kg or $900 to $1195. Lightweight steers weighing less than 300kg sold from from 315c/kg to 340c/kg, or $600 to $900.
Long Flat Investments, Braidwood, averaged $936 or 324c/kg for their 44 yard-weaned Angus steers and the Walsh family, Braidwood, sold 56 yard-weaned Angus steers averaging $860 or 336c/kg.
The heifers opened up solidly, topping at $925 and making between 270c/kg and 300c/kg with some lightweight heifers exceeding 300c/kg. The Morgan family, Braidwood, sold seven heifers for $850; the Daniher family, Braidwood, sold 18 Angus heifers for $800; and the Tokich family sold 12 Angus heifers for $775.
The sale was conducted by Schute Bell Livestock, Goulburn, J Hindmarsh and Co, Moss Vale, and Ray White Livestock, Braidwood.
